Revolutionary PIT BOOST to Transform Formula E Racing

The introduction of the PIT BOOST in Formula E will provide a 10% energy boost during pit stops, allowing teams to innovate their racing strategies. This new feature highlights the commitment to technological advancements in electric vehicle racing and will debut in February 2025.

Formula E and the FIA have launched the innovative "PIT BOOST" function, which promises to change the game in electric racing with a 10% energy increase. This measure, which will debut during the Jeddah E-Prix in February 2025, will allow teams to recharge an additional 10% of energy in just 30 seconds at a power of 600 kW in the pitlane.

The PIT BOOST, which introduces an element of risk and strategy, will challenge drivers and teams to decide when to use this energy boost during the race. The function will be activated during a pit stop of 34 seconds and will provide an additional 3.85 kWh to a car per team, regardless of the ATTACK MODE rules.

With this innovation, Formula E aims not only to entertain fans with exciting races but also to drive innovation in electric mobility. The application of the PIT BOOST will be subject to strict protocols to ensure its safety and reliability.

FIA's Senior Sports Director of Circuits, Marek Nawarecki, stated that this strategic function underscores the FIA's commitment to developing advanced technologies that benefit both competition and electric mobility in general. The usage window for the PIT BOOST will be determined by the FIA and shared with the teams 21 days before each race, adding a new level of strategy to Formula E competitions.
